KENDAL Town continued their pre-season preparations with games against Carlisle United and Morecambe’s First team at Parkside Road.

Both games saw a huge number of fans turn up to the ground with 605 turning up for the Carlisle game while over 500 were in attendance for the Morecambe game on Tuesday night.

Kendal had also played Whitehaven last Saturday on a special occasion where the Mayor of Kendal Doug Rathbone opened the clubs newly named Bill Robson Stand.

However, on the pitch Kendal played well in all three games and while they lost 6-0 to Carlisle and 4-1 against Morecambe the team more than held their own giving Kendal Town manager Chris Humphrey huge optimism ahead of the season start on Saturday 14 August.

Kendal fielded a number of trialists, while regular players such as Jordan Scott, Shaun Gardner and Tom Fagan were also involved.

Morgan Bacon made his return for the Morecambe game while Greg Mc Carragher played his first game of pre-season against Morecambe.

The Mintcakes only win came against Whitehaven where they ran out 4-1 winners with Jordan Scott amongst the goal scorers while a number of trialists also scored.

Whitehaven improved during the second half and pulled one goal back however the first half performance was enough for Kendal to take the win.

In the Carlisle game Kendal forced the visiting keeper into a number of saves while the team started well against Morecambe before the visitors showed their strength as they went 3-0 up at half time.

The Mintcakes did well in the second half and while Morecambe went 4-0 up, Kendal pulled one goal back through a trialist as Kendal drew the second half 1-1.

Kendal now play three difficult friendly games over the course of the next week where they host Workington Athletic on Saturday before playing host to Chorleys Under 23’s on Tuesday night.

The Mintcakes then travel to play Caton United the following Saturday before they start the new season at home to Glossop North End on Saturday 14 August before an away game at Bootle on Tuesday night.

Off the pitch First Team coach John Foley has left and joined up with Carlisle United where has taken a coaching role with the youth team.

However despite the departure of the first team coach, Kendal have plenty of options to assist Chris Humphrey for the new season.

News on the clubs new signings is also set to be announced in due course as they sort through the trialists with some likely to be signed come the season start.
