SOUTH Lakeland has seen a 52% increase in house sale enquiries this year (Jan 2020 - jan 2021).

Barrow has also benefitted in an 18% increase. Meanwhile, Copeland has seen a 38% decease in homeowners looking to sell their home, the largest in 3.5 years.

Paige MckNortan, sales manager at Milne Moster Estate Agents, said: "Since last year the market has been as boyant as ever.

"We're increasingley seeing prices go for sale above asking price, the issue is we just dont have enough stock there is about 19 buyers per household at the moment." 

But, why are people selling?

20% of people asked said they were seling their second home, 19% said they were upsizing with 7% saying they were downsizing and just 6% saying they were relocating.

The UK overal has seen the biggest increase in house sales since 2020. Other regions which have seen aa surge in house sales are East Renfrewshire, Scotland and Mid and East Antrim and Northern Ireland.
