TRIBUTES have been paid to an 81-year-old cyclist after his death in a traffic collision.

It comes after police named the man who died in the incident along the A590 last Tuesday as Brian Jensen.

Mr Jensen's family said he would be remembered by many 'for his love of encouraging young people to explore the country' through hiking and cycling.

“He had a love for science and deep thinking, but most of all he loved his family and his saviour Jesus Christ," they said.

“He will be missed by so many of us, as he was loved by many.”

Mr Jensen, of Morecambe, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The collision occurred near Levens, close to the junction leading to Bridge End Garage and the A5074.

The driver - in his 20s and from Barrow - of a van also involved was uninjured.

Police are asking witnesses to the collision to come forward.

They are also interested in locating the occupants of a yellow vehicle which may have been in the area at the time.
