THE DVLA have warned the public against scammers who are attempting to impersonate them.
The scam includes sending alarming emails regarding unpaid car tax, offers to update your profile on gov.uk with new information and emails warning that legal action will be taken unless money is paid.
Cumbria Trading Standard said: "Scammers are pretending to be the DVLA giving false information through texts and emails ‘phishing’ for your information
"Don’t fall for it."
