A NEW art exhibition inspired by the theme of remembrance is due to take place in Kendal.

South Lakes Art Collective is hosting a free exhibition at The Factory in Aynam Road, Kendal focussed on the act of remembrance.

The exhibition, which will run between October 2 and December 17, features the work of a number of renowned artists including Mark Gibbs and Monica Metsers.

Mr Gibbs has five pieces in the exhibition which concentrates on the military and the act of remembrance.

Altogether, there will be approximately 60 pieces on show at the exhibition, including a mixture of sculpture, glass art, paintings, drawings, lino cuts and photography.

South Lakes Arts Collective (SLAC) was formed in Ulverston in April 2016 as a platform for professional and amateur artists and artisans to share their work both within the region and further afield.

Tim Leeson and Denny Derbyshire, SLAC co-ordinators, said: "We are very pleased with the diversity of the exhibition and we are both encouraged about new members that have submitted and been accepted for the exhibition.

"We are also glad to utilise Space2create fantastic exhibition space."
