BARROW AFC new signing Robbie Gotts has said he was 'chuffed' after a promising debut for The Bluebirds last Saturday.

21-year-old Gotts started for his new employers during Barrow's impressive 3-0 away win at Oldham Athletic, just days after joining on transfer deadline day.

He was well received by the travelling AFC support and was even given his own chant, before coming off in the 79th minute for Tom White.

Gotts: said: "Coming off at the end, I didn’t expect a song – I am chuffed.

"I don’t think I could have ever asked for a better debut.

"With that being my first game this season, I gave it all I could.

"To be fair, it couldn’t have gone any better. Ever since I came to the club everyone has welcomed me nicely and seeing the fans’ reaction after I played – I am made up."

The midfielder left Leeds last summer after coming through the ranks at Elland Road, but believes it was time to leave his boyhood club.

He said: "Leeds is a great club, you can't really say anything bad about them, I learnt a lot there and I think it was my time to move on and come to a club like this and work as hard as I can.

"Game time is what I need now at this age.

"Being on loan last season, I needed a fresh start and I couldn’t have chose a better place to come.

"By the looks of it - coming in on Thursday and playing Saturday, I think everybody has got that mindset to achieve something this season.

"I think with this group everyone has got good ambitions and it is great set of lads."
