A POPULAR festival is set to return to the streets of Penrith this year.

The Winter Droving will be coming to town from October 28 to October 30.

Attractions include a food and craft market and the UK's only all female Mariachi band.

People can enter the event with wristbands which helps to keep numbers safe due to the pandemic.

Winter Droving Director Adrian Lochhead said: "It’s crucial we keep on top of the numbers of people attending so that we can go ahead at all.

"If everyone gets a wristband, then we can monitor expected numbers over the three days and make sure that our plans are appropriate."

The event will be sponsored by Penrith based company Ast Signs.

For the first time the event will span three days to avoid overcrowding.

Fan favourites Mr Wilson's second liners are back along with the Baghdaddies who offer an array of world music.

There will also be a funfair for youngsters and this year's festival promises to be as fun as ever.

Organisers are also trying to make the event as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.
