THE British Transport Police have confirmed that a man has died in Barrow after being hit by a train.

Paramedics attended the scene yesterday evening but the man did not survive.

A spokesman for BTP said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Barrow-in-Furness at 6.27pm yesterday (October 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
