NEWLYWEDS 'loved every minute' of their wedding day after rearranging the date three times due to the pandemic.

Jessica Killen, 31, a textile designer, and Thomas Ellis 31, a product manager in IT, first met in Liverpool.

Mr Ellis said he liked how driven his wife is and Mrs Ellis praised her husband's positive outlook on life.

The couple got engaged three years ago whilst trekking up Catbells in the pouring rain.

"It's a very special place to Tom's family so I thought we were just walking up so we could say we had been," Mrs Ellis said.

"We got to the top and I was concerned about when we were going to eat the take away quiche from Ambleside’s cafe ‘Chesters’ and then he proposed. We had a soaked picture for the family."

The couple rearranged their wedding three times due to the pandemic, intent on hosting a party with all of their loved ones.

Mrs Ellis said: "We moved the wedding three times and got married on the fourth attempt on August 31.

"We moved the date as we really wanted a party with everyone at the hotel."

The couple wed at Lindeth Howe Hotel in Bowness in front of 85 guests in the day and 120 guests for the evening celebrations.

Mrs Ellis said: "We had booked an exclusive wedding so we were able to have the whole hotel.

"The suppliers and the hotel felt like friends. They were so supportive during all the changes and truly made the day so special. We definitely appreciated having all our friends and family together in one place as it had been so long since we had seen people in a group.

"The most we had seen in small groups was only six once or twice.

"The dance floor was full early on.

"Everyone danced like they had never danced before.

"I didn’t even take my shoes off or change out of my wedding dress. I danced all night long.

"We went for a walk after the meal by the lake for our photos and it was really beautiful and calming.

"We asked Tom's uncle do the service as we struggled to get the registrar on the day of the wedding due to the chaos of everyone changing the dates.

"It was so personal, afterwards we said we were so glad to have chosen to do the wedding in this way.

"We loved every minute and it was worth the wait and changes."

The newlyweds are heading to Mauritius this weekend for their honeymoon.

Mrs Ellis said: "We had a few days in the lakes straight after the wedding and we are going to Mauritius this weekend. We had cancelled the honeymoon twice but looking forward to two weeks chilling."
