THE public has been invited to attend an event about a 'mysterious hidden kingdom'.

An expert will guide participants through the world of fungi at the talk later this month.

The event is being hold by conservation charity Cumbria Wildlife Trust on November 17 at 6.30pm.

A spokesman for the trust said: "A kingdom of several million species of fungi stays hidden from us most of the time, and yet, without it, we could not survive.

"Join fungal ecologist Professor Lynne Boddy for a talk uncovering the mysteries of this secret world."

The event is taking place online and is expected to last for around an hour, including time for questions to be asked at the end.

Anyone who cannot make the session but is registered for the event will be sent a recording to watch after the talk to watch at their leisure.

A donation of £2.50 per device is recommended.

Visit the 'what's on' section of cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk for more information and to book a place on the event.
