Windermere's Award winning Easy Breeze bar reflects on unique approach to business

The Easy Breeze, located on Church Street, has used its dedicated staff members and rosette chefs to provide a unique and high-quality service for the public, much to the delight of its customers.

Owned and operated by Mark Gunner and his wife Angela, the pair bought to business in 2016 when it was a tea room and transformed it into the popular business it is today.

Mark said: “To put the place together we basically used a lot of reclaimed materials from around the Lakes and built from up there.

“The bar is made out of fence posts from a field in Yealand, and we also use a stable door from Windermere Golf Club.

“We use old worldly things to give it a sort of après ski cabin feel to it.

“We bought it in February 2016 when it was just a tea room and we later decided to give it a full refurbishment.

“It’s usually locally sources materials and it’s a cool way of taking some of the history of the area and put it in one place.

“It looks really original and really authentic.

“Recently there has been some work in the back bar and made it twice its original size.

“Again, we used a lot of old stuff, some from an old coal shed from Sandside and it is a modern take on the old world.

“We try to fuse entertainment with a unique dining experience, with live music, good food and creating a different experience for people traveling from outside the region.

“We have about 22 people working with us, and four of them are full timers.

“This Christmas we will be doing some special package deals. We have party packages for exclusive or shares parties, company parties or for families.

“We also do a Christmas menu designed by our rosette chef.”
