The Rotary Club of Furness is excited to put on its second Santa Dash event next month – and hopes to raise hundreds for St Mary's Hospice in the process.
The streets of Barrow's town centre are set to be descended on by numerous Santas dashing with festive spirit on December 11 and the Rotary club has said that it is still not too late to get involved.
Brian Boyd, one of the club's event organisers, said: "This is going to be the showcase event of a day of activities in the town centre.
"This is a charity event which is raising money for the hospice, who need all the help they can get so they can continue doing their fantastic job.
"2019 was our inaugural Santa Dash with 90 Santas taking part and raising thousands for the hospice; we are hoping to increase that number this year."
Mr Boyd went on to describe the event as a 'fun day which also raises money for a charity which does brilliant work'.
People who take part can walk, jog, or sprint the 2km - however they see fit - as the event this year will not be timed.
The event is ideal for families, schools, clubs or individuals who want to dress up like Father Christmas and support St Mary's Hospice.
Event entry still includes a free Santa suit and hat.
Speaking ahead of the event, a Barrow BID spokesman said: "This year participants will be encouraged to wear Christmas lights over their Santa suits as they run, jog or walk around the 2.5km course.
"The participants will be entertained with live music and street entertainers around the course."
To participate, go to the Rotary of Furness website and register.
