JET SETTERS who first met on a university swim team have taken the plunge into marriage.

Lauren Wray and Fraser Minnican, both 26, dove into each other's hearts after meeting on the Loughborough University swim team.

Mrs Minnican, a manufacturing engineer from Lincolnshire, and Mr Minnican, an acoustic engineer, from Pennington near Ulverston, bonded over their similar interests.

"I liked the fact we both had very similar interest and don’t take life too seriously," Mrs Minnican said.

"We're always laughing and smiling."

The smitten pair took their relationship to the next step on July 26 2019 when Mr Minnican decided to ask a very special question.

"We had just got the keys to our first house together," Mrs Minnican said.

"And we were sitting on the floor in our bedroom with our 10 week old puppy when he asked the question.

"It was a surprise as we had just come back from four weeks in America and it didn’t happen then so I didn’t think it would happen any time soon!"

The pair tied the knot at the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding on October 1 in front of 60 guests.

Mrs Minnican said: "We booked our wedding in 2019 for October 2021 so we realised we were very lucky as we weren’t hit by any Covid restrictions."

After an early morning start - including a brisk run up Sale Fell before the ceremony - the couple exchanged their vows.

Mrs Minnican said: "The day started for the bridal party at 6.45am as hair and make up was for 7am.

"Fraser went for a run up Sale Fell the morning before getting ready.

"The ceremony was at 12pm and had to be inside due to the weather being very unpredictable.

"We had personalised vows to make it a bit more personal and after the ceremony, we managed to get photos outside as we had an hour of sun.

"The food at the hotel was amazing, everyone was commenting how lovely it was.

"We got doughnuts from Bakehouse Born and Bread - and they all went by the end of the night."

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds had originally planned to travel to Hawaii but opted for Cyprus and Coniston instead due to travel restrictions.

The couple said: "We had booked to go to Hawaii, however, two months before it wasn’t looking good to go over to America so we cancelled our bookings and looked for places we could go in Europe.

"Due to booking the time off work already, we did a holiday up in the Lakes with the dog as well.

"Even though the weather was on a totally different scale!"
