A MOUNTAIN rescue team is searching for new recruits to join the team.

The team at Coniston Mountain Rescue are looking for people who are 'willing to give some of their time helping others who need assistance'.

The new recruit needs to be prepared to be called out to a number of accidents, including biking accidents, lost walkers or someone seeking medical attention.

Team Leader Janice Hamilton said: "We normally take on recruits, usually every year but covid has interfered with that.

"We have a responsibility to our members and we want to keep numbers down to a minimum on call outs but we are now in a position to take on more recruits."

If accepted onto the team as a probationer, you will receive training in equipment handling, rope work, casualty care, search techniques, 4 x 4 training and learn how to run the base.

Janice said to become a recruit you need to be reasonably fit, as you are often called out to incident in tough terrains and that you will have to be committed by attending training and helping with fundraising events.

If you are interested in joining the team go to the website and fill out the application form.
