A KENDAL school pupil has been awarded a prestigious Engineering Scholarship.

Queen Katherine School, sixth form pupil Chris Wilson has been awarded the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

The scholarship programme aims to encourage young people from all backgrounds to pursue a career in engineering.

The programme supports awardees through their A levels or equivalent qualifications by providing financial support, personal mentoring, hands-on industry experience and exclusive events to support their journey.

On winning the scholarship, Chris said: "This is what Chris had to say about the Award “The application process consisted of a descriptive piece of writing, alongside showcasing my project skills which linked to Engineering. During the interview stage, I produced a PowerPoint presentation, talking through all aspects of my project which I presented to two Arkwright Engineers.

"I have enjoyed every aspect of the process and I feel proud of my achievement and look forward to making the most of the award.”

The scholarship included a rigorous application process, which included an online application, an aptitude exam, and a virtual interview.

Head of Sixth Form, Ruth Nelson said: “A phenomenal achievement, and very well deserved. I look forward to seeing Chris progress through his sixth form studies and on to tertiary education with as much drive, ambition and success.”
