PUPILS from Hornby St Margaret's CE Primary School have panted thousands of bulbs to mark a new outdoor education area.

The pupils were joined by family and friends to plant thousands of flower bulbs on the school grounds.

Tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, daffodils and alliums were all planted to compliment the reception class outdoor area and mark the start of a brand new outdoor education space.

The children at Hornby St Margaret's school have joined pupils from France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Canada in planting over 1.3 million bulbs.

The school also received 1000 bulbs from Impact Landscape studio, alongside 600 bulbs from Bulbs4kids who promote the education and health benefits of working in nature across Europe and Canada.

Pupils at the school also purchased 1200 daffodil bulbs which were possible using money that the 'Garden gang' at the school had made through selling jam from fruit grown in the school gardens.

Hornby St Margaret's school said: "It really is possible to see children who might struggle in the classroom thrive outdoors.

"When the tulips, crocuses, daffodils, alliums and grape hyacinths start blooming early in the spring, this school garden will be bursting with colour and will provide a home for many different pollinating insects."
