A CLASSIC car and bike garage has opened its doors in Kendal.

South lakes motorcycles, classics and hot rods was set up earlier this year after co-director Dudley Brennan saw a gap in the market.

Dudley, who had been working in Australia for 10 years at a garage, returned back to the UK and noticed there was a place for his skill set and decided to open up the garage.

Dudley and his mum Deborah Reese are both co-directors of the garage.

Deborah said: "Ever since he has been able to walk and talk he has been able to make engines and do things up.

"Even has a teenager he was ordering parts off ebay and coming out of the barn with fully made quadbikes it is incredible what he can do."

Dudley said that his object in Kendal is to combine bespoke engineering with old school mechanical repairs done to a high standard.

The business is based at Fell View trading park.

He said: "Sadly the skills I possess are no longer taught anywhere. I come from a long line of world class engineers on both sides of my family so this quite literally runs in my blood. "

Dudley said since opening his garage business has been steady. On why he thought now was the right time to start up his own business, he said: "I moved back in October last year so I was looking to set up a business.

"I got this unit at the end of December and spent three/four months renovating then we opened the doors."
