DOZENS of students took to the stage to put on a sell-out performance of Grease.

More than 100 pupils from all year groups at Kirkbie Kendal School came together for four evenings at the Brewery Arts Centre.

Audiences were entertained with all the well-known hits performed with an eight-piece band and students were delighted to have sold 1,000 tickets for the production.

“It was a massive success,” said head of creative and performing arts Mark Leadbetter.

“Especially under the current circumstances and worrying about Covid and students having to isolate.

“We did really well because a number of students in the build up had to isolate and miss dress rehearsals, but we managed to get through the performances with our full cast and nobody having to miss it which was a massive relief.

“We traditionally do it in the summer term but this year we decided to do it for the first time in the autumn term so that all the students could get involved because for the older students during exam time it’s difficult for them.”

Mr Leadbetter praised his pupils and staff for their efforts and thanked the community for helping make the production a reality.

“We had loads of people from the community who helped, it was great,” he said.

“For example Lee’s removals helped us get all the equipment to the Brewery, there’s lots of people to thank for getting it over the line.”
