A NIGHT of opera is heading to Ulverston.
Russian State Opera: Bizet's Carmen is heading to The Coro on February 28 at 7pm.
Audiences can strap themselves in for an absorbing tale of love, treachery, passion, and betrayal, packed with some of opera’s most memorable arias.
Set in 19th-century Seville, naïve soldier Don José falls head over heels in love with Carmen, a seductive, free-spirited Roma woman. Infatuated, he abandons his childhood sweetheart and neglects his military duties to be with her, but Carmen’s head is turned with the arrival of glamorous bull-fighter Escamillo. Who will the fickle femme fatale pick – and at what cost?
From Carmen’s seductive ‘Habanera’ to Escamillo’s triumphal ‘Toreador Song’, Bizet’s masterful music creates an enthralling atmosphere of tense and fiery passion, where jealousy and violence threaten to erupt at any moment.
Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a 30-piece live orchestra, the Russian State Opera’s powerful and dramatic production is sure to impress.
Tickets cost £28 for adults plus a booking fee, or £10 with a booking fee for under 18s.
