A MOUNTAIN rescue team has successfully steered a team of walkers back on track.
Kendal Mountain Rescue were called by Penrith Mountain Rescue on Sunday at 4.25pm, who had in turn been called by Cumbria Police.
Three hill walkers had reported themselves lost after walking from Haweswater car park.
Initial reports indicated that they were on patch between Thornthwaite crag and Froswick. With limited information, search teams were sent out to cover the route.
Fortunately, Kendal MRT managed to get an exact location after the lost walkers responded to a phonefind text.
This enabled the teams on the hill to quickly locate them and bring them safely off the hill.
They were taken back to base a taxi arranged to take them back to their car.
The Mountain Rescue Team issued some advice.
They said: "No one sets out on a walk with the intention of getting injured or lost, but accidents and the nature of our weather sometimes means these things happen.
"Getting help early is always critical in ensuring a good outcome, but following advice on websites such as #BeAdventureSmart can make your adventure safer and give guidance on what to do if things go wrong.
"Safe adventures everyone."
