CRIME drama fans were transported back to Morecambe Bay for the return of a hit TV series.

The Bay returned on Wednesday night for its third series, which is filmed in Morecambe and surrounding areas including Grange-over-Sands.

Episode one sees new family liaison officer DS Jenn Townsend join Morecambe’s police force from Manchester.

The DS, played by Marsha Thomason, is immediately thrown into the deep end on her first day on the job when a body is discovered by two wild swimmers when it washes up in the bay.

DS Townsend follows in the shoes of fellow family liaison officer DS Lisa Armstrong, played by Morven Christie, who after two dramatic series moved on to pastures new for a job in London.

After a bumpy start with a crash with another car and the unfolding murder investigation it soon revealed that DS Townsend has escaped to Morecambe after a leave of absence for ‘personal reasons’ alluded to in a counselling session.

The third series promises lots of twists and revelations and will continue next Wednesday at 9pm.
