WHERE would you and your family like to go in Cumbria or the South Lakes for a day out?

As the weekend approaches and Covid restrictions are about to come down we have looked at some of the best places you and your family can go to.

  • Kendal Castle

The iconic and historically significant medieval fortification has long been a popular draw for tourism, and for local people who have a fondness for history and castles.

Jen said: "Worth the walk up the hill, once we found the way. Amazing views of Kendal and the countryside on a clear day."

  • Brewery Arts Centre

The ever popular and well-known centre has been a hub for the community to invest time in the arts, theatre, cinema, and other activities.

With two cinemas, a studio for drama, galleries, theatre and a restaurant and bar area this is an ideal place to go if you are in Kendal.

Reviewer Simon said: "Booked cinema tickets on-line. Found the website easy to use, tickets sent to my phone. On arrival the staff were great, friendly, and welcoming. Just what was needed on a rainy day. Seats were really comfy and there was a good atmosphere in the cinema. Will have to make the effort to use more of these facilities."

  • Lakeland Maze Farm Park

The Maze Farm Park is a fun little day out for those who are looking for somewhere for their kids to run and play.

The park offers fun such as a maize maze, animal feeding & petting, go-karts and a sand pit.

Sarah Johnson said: "Lovely family day out, 2 different maze levels, we did the short one which was about 20 mins long (two children aged 7 with us) so was perfect. Outdoor play area is really good lots to play plenty of picnic benches and places to sit and eat. Pick your own sunflowers were available. Plenty of animals to see and the tractor ride was a big hit too. We spent a total of four hours here even though it was raining on and off most of the day it was still good. The mini panel maze was loads of fun trying to find the code to get out."

  • Lakes Outdoor Experience

The fun day out that captures the excitement in the Lake District, the Outdoor Experience offers a variety of challenges including climbing, kayaking, tours, sports, and canoeing.

Sarah said: "We had a fabulous morning with Ian learning the ropes. Had lots of fun, felt very safe. Will be looking him up again when we next visit. Highly recommend."
