OWNERS of a Kendal café have received a hearty welcome at their new location in town.

The popular Method Cafe, on Stramongate, is owned and operated by Becks Newton and Scarlett Meyer, and has received a touching wave of support as they moved locations in Kendal.

The pair, who both enjoy exercise, previously ran the cafe from Fell Crossfit, on the Beezon Road Trading Estate, before moving to the new premises last year.

Before setting up on their own they worked at well-known south Cumbrian eateries including Homeground, in Windermere, and Chesters by the River, Skelwith Bridge. Becks grew up in Windermere, while Scarlett is originally from Warrington.

“I’ve always worked in the industry and I worked my way up gradually to be head chef at Homeground, in Windermere, but it was always our dream to have our own place,” says Becks

“Method is all about daytime eating and we like to put as much thought and as much care into what we do in the daytime as other people would do in the evening. We don't see that there should be any difference in service, we think the food should have the same amount of respect, care, love and attention. It should be a great experience and you should be well looked after.”

Becks and Scarlett make regular trips to cities to eat brunch and say they want to bring some of the urban cafe culture to Kendal.

She added: "We just like to cook the food that we like and make it super tasty with a little quirk or something a little bit interesting here and there and give people a varied choice and a good experience.

“We just try and make sure that our dishes are creative and one off and unique.”

The pair say they have been impressed by how much support they have received since moving to the new location in November.

"We've been as busy as we'd want to be and we want to continue to push that and maintain that consistency.

“Something we'd like to do is look at applying to the council for some seating outside ready for summer.

“We've had a really great response to Method so far and we're really enjoying it. We're excited for the future and moving forward with the business.”
