A TATTOO parlour has chipped into the incredible showing of help and aid to Ukrainians from Cumbria.

After feeling helpless at the plight of Ukrainians defending their country, tattooist Katrina Jamieson took personal responsibility to forego some profits to assist the aid being sent to the war-torn country.

She worked a 12-hour shift for zero profit to give people a permanent way to show solidarity with Ukraine.

Katrina, owner of Koala Tea Tattoos in Kendal, said: "I just wanted to help in any way I could so I offered the tattoos at non-profit.

"I worked from 9am until 9pm on Saturday to raise the funds and gave people tattoos all based on Ukraine so they can carry a piece of Ukraine with them."

She described wanting to help in her own way after seeing aid organisations were asking for money as well as items and clothing.

She said: "It's just me in my studio. I opened in December last year and I wanted to help somehow. I had seen so many places taking clothing, baby supplies and blankets.

"I saw online that Ukraine needed money to help the soldiers with their uniforms.

"The peace sign was one of the more popular ones. I did one on myself first thing Saturday and donated the £20 for that one too."

And it isn't the first time she's put her skills to good use.

She said: "I did a similar fundraising too for the Manchester terrorist attack that happened in 2017 and tattooed the Manchester Bee to raise money for that too.

"I didn't expect this to blow up as popular as it did however and I was even debating doing another day for those who couldn't make the Saturday."
