A CHOIR is back in action this weekend with a new concert.
Kendal-based chamber choir, the Pro Nobis Singers is busily preparing for their next concert in Holy Trinity and St George Catholic Church in Kendal on Sunday, April 3.
The concert ‘A Choral Pilgrimage’ takes the choir on a journey through the ages and across continents from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century with music by William Byrd, Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, Henry Purcell, Antonio Caldara, Joseph Haydn, Johannes Brahms and Urmas Sisask.
The centre piece of the programme is Haydn’s ‘Little Organ Mass’ with local soprano Faye Bowness as soloist.
Faye recently completed her undergraduate course and master’s degree at York University and is taking a year out before further professional training.
The choir will be accompanied by Andy Plowman, organ, and a small string ensemble led by Pamela Redman.
The concert begins at 2.30 and programmes, £10, can be reserved by phoning 01539 723482 or by contacting the choir’s website, www.pronobis-singers.com.
