A DRUG dealer found in Ulverston in possession of a kilogram of cocaine worth around £80,000 has been jailed today for more than five years.
Anthony Reilly, 24, of Theatre Street, Ulverston but originally from the Merseyside area, was arrested on February 3 following a police investigation.
Reilly was observed approaching a vehicle and then leaving with a carrier bag. After being approached by plain-clothed police officers, he dropped the bag and fled.
The bag contained one kilogram of high-purity cocaine, with an estimated street value of £80,000.
Reilly admitted conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court to 63 months in prison.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police’s south area Community Serious and Organised Crime unit said: “This was a significant amount of drugs removed from our streets and serves to once again reiterate the fact that Cumbria is no soft target for drug dealing.
“Cumbria Police is committed to tackling serious organised crime in all its forms and working to prevent Class A drug dealers from preying on addicts and other vulnerable people.
“We urge anyone with knowledge of illegal drug supply in their community to contact the police today so that action can be taken.”
