A PROGRAMME has been launched to improve people’s physical and mental health and well-being.

Wild & Well Fell Walks is set up by outdoor educator, Ruth Kirk, who runs At Nature’s Pace and will incorporate the incredible benefits of nature connectedness activities along the way, and teach people how the activities are scientifically proven to give them a dose of natural health and well-being goodness.

Tapping into the healing properties which the majestic mountains, swooping valleys, sparkling lakes, and wonderful waterfalls of the Lake District provide, Wild & Well Fell Walks are set at an affordable rate to be accessible to most. But those on a low income, who feel they might benefit are invited to get in touch with Ruth for a chat.

A Nature Connectedness and Forest Bathing Guide and Mountain Leader with a degree in Outdoor and Environmental Education and 12 years’ experience working in landscape engagement for Lake District charities, Ruth says, “The scientific research is now clear. Developing a deeper connection with nature – as opposed to just going for a walk – helps to boost your immune system, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve depression, lower blood pressure, help you sleep better, improve heart health, restore mental fatigue, increase creativity and productivity and more.

"Nature connectedness really has the transformative power to change our lives, and our health, for the better. Nature really is a miracle treatment!”

The guided walks will be taking place in locations across the Lake District and are open to anyone – individual, group or business - wanting to learn how to make the most of all the profound health and well-being benefits that water, woodlands and fells have to offer.
