A Boutique has had a major makeover after being one of many businesses to suffer during the pandemic.

Kitty Brown Boutique in Carnforth has re-invested in the shop after 'limping through' the pandemic.

The Kitty Brown Boutique is an independent fashion boutique championing sustainable and affordable fashion for women. Caroline and her small team continue to select clothing, footwear and accessories from well known and lesser-known brands.

Like most clothing businesses, the boutique had to close during the pandemic and decided to take that opportunity to make changes to its website and the layout of its shop.

The Westmorland Gazette:

As well as making changes to their website and the shop layout, the boutique also offered free delivery to a number of customers and introduced facetime shopping.

Shop Assistant, Ella Smalley said: "As soon as we were allowed to open it was all guns blazing but we had noticed that people's way of shopping had changed.

"They wanted to see things really clearly, they didn't want to spend a lot of time indoors if they could help it."

The shop then had a refit. The shop closed for a week and they reinvested.

Ella said: "We managed to make it through a really tough time let's give people the shopping experience that they deserve and put everything we have back into the shop."

The shop now has brand new plain black rails, to put garments on. Rails had been ripped off the wall and replaced with french cleat which now stocks the accessories.

Ella said: "We can see people, they can now see us and it's just a lot clearer for everyone."

The Westmorland Gazette:

The shop has a high ceiling, originally they enquired about having the ceiling physically lowered but realised that would not work as it would require the shop to close for a longer length of time.

Now the shop has festoon lighting which has 'brightened' the shop and given it an airy feel.

Thanking customers for the support throughout and post-pandemic, Ella said: "A massive thank you, Caroline (Co-owner) got really emotional on the first day of opening after seeing all our regulars come into the shop.

"We were really humbled that people still wanted to come and see us. Without them we wouldn't be here now."
