Emergency services are attending an incident at one of the Lake DIstrict's highest mountains.
Eyewitness Jim Conway, from Darlington, was hiking up Helvellyn at around 2.50pm on Thursday, May 12 when he saw two Great North Air Ambulance helicopters circling overhead, and described the scene:
"There's definitely something big going on, on Striding Edge, the air ambulance guy wouldn't tell me exactly what was happening, but he said there's going to be a lot of helicopter activity round there, and just to be careful.
"I can see them winching somebody down to the tarn as we speak."
