A POPULAR food and drink venue is celebrating its first anniversary.

Located on Rydal Road in Ambleside, Tap Yard offers a 'quality' service to customers.

The venue sells local craft beer selections for real ale enthusiasts accompanied by an offering of cooked food including hand-stretched pizzas and gourmet burgers.

Sourced from Cumbrian breweries, the beers are drawn from six large 1,000-pint copper tanks displayed above the bar.

General Manager Daniella Banciu said 'a lot of balloons' have been bought to bring in the celebrations.

There will also offers on beers.

The Westmorland Gazette:

Since opening the venue on May 17, 2021, Daniella said business had been 'very busy'.

"Even in the winter months the trade was still coming in, which you don't expect for a place like Ambleside in the winter," she said.

"We have done very well. We've implemented some offers so people can buy a burger and a pint or pizza and a pint for £9.95 which keeps us busy."

The venue is backed by High Spirits Leisure Group which spent £500,000 on the venue.

Daniella said in the future the team would like to 'evolve' the company a little more by possibly opening up some new venues. She said: "I think it would work. People love beer and we offer a massive selection of beer."

The Westmorland Gazette:

Reflecting on their first year of trading, Daniella said: "I just want to say a massive thank you. We have been implementing our customer's feedback.

"We hear them and we try to improve so we can satisfy everyone's needs and this can only happen with help from our customers."

This year saw the opening of the venue’s takeaway service Ice and Slice which offers customers ice cream, wood-fired pizza slices and beverages.

Daniella said: "Ice and Slice does really well as a business of its own."
