Drivers in and around South Lakeland will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A590, from 8am May 10 to 8.19am May 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 Country road diversion in place to allow Electricity North West to carry out utility works.

• A590, from 9.30am March 14 to 6am June 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, at Backbarrow, traffic signals and traffic signals with convoy working.

• A590, from 8pm September 4 2021 to 6am July 30 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Swarthmoor, Convoy working for Construction of new four arm roundabout to replace the current staggered junction.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M6, from 8am May 24 to 5am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 37 exit slip road closure for resurfacing.

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on May 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 jct 36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

• A590, from 8am to 6pm on May 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): possible congestion on A590 due to EpicMan Windermere Triathlon (Bike Course) - 500 participants.

• A590, from 8am to 6pm on May 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): possible congestion on A590 due to EpicMan Windermere Triathlon (Bike Course) - 500 participants.

• A590, from midday, to 8pm on May 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 and M6 jct 36 Heavy traffic and due to Cartmel Races.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
