(ABOVE) An artist’s palette over the doorway to Mike Healey’s studio gallery in The Old Police Yard, between Market Place and Finkle Street.
A modern equivalent of the trade signs that Kendal used to have in abundance which included The Bristly Hog, The Saracen and The Mortise & Pestle.
In 1832 the town’s first police station was formed in this building, consisting of four officers, with the cells below ground.
