SEDBERGH School has praised its team of horse riders who competed at the Royal Windsor Horse Show for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The team, which included Kate Sanderson, Scarlett Holden, Ella Turner, and Katie Wood, had an incredible weekend when they rode at the show, finishing third nationally.

The team finished 3rd against 20 qualified teams in the Frogmore Sand Arena, whilst being cheered on from start to finish by the 14-strong Sedbergh School supporters, which included three generations of each family.

Sedbergh were the second team in the ring, so each rider had to just go for it against the clock if they stood a chance of getting in the top 6 places.

Faye Barker, Team Manager, said, "This was not easy, as our riders had a lot to deal with and two riders were on young horses, so we were not sure how they were going to react to such a big occasion. The atmosphere at the show was electric with a large crowd watching and plenty going on to unnerve and startle our horses, including the cavalry horses walking past before they went in."

The experienced riders dealt with the pressure extremely well to help keep their horse's calm and focused.

Kate, Scarlett, Ella, and Katie gave everything they had to produce a team score of zero with 3 stunning clears, as it was 3 scores to count.

There were only 4 teams out of 20 who managed to achieve a score of zero, which shows how tough it was. With Sedbergh competing so early in the competition, it was nail-biting stuff watching the rest of the event, as Sedbergh were lying in the 2nd place until the very end.

Faye Barker said: "It was so tough to qualify to get to Windsor, so we were just so pleased to have got there.

“We were determined to have an amazing time whatever happened in the ring.

“The team camaraderie was high with everyone supporting one another.

“We are so proud of each rider."

The Sedbergh Team and 14 supporters also watched the Queen's concert on the "gallop through history" which was an unforgettable experience with over 600 horses including the Queen's personal horses and regiments from around the world.
