TALENTED students at a Cumbrian ballet school are set to perform Léo Delibes’ Coppélia, a comic tale of a young man falling in love with a mechanical doll.

The show will be performed at The Coronation Hall in Ulverston on June 24 and June 25.

The show is billed as: “Who is the strange, beautiful girl who appears one day on the balcony of Dr Coppelius’s house? No-one is more intrigued than lively local girl Swanilda – except perhaps her lover Franz, who is utterly enchanted. How can Swanilda win back Franz’s heart?

“Eccentric Dr Coppelius is secretly a toy-maker; and the mysterious girl is his favourite creation, a mechanical doll called Coppelia! As the characters gather inside his fantastical toy factory, the toy-maker’s ultimate dream comes true and Coppelia comes to life… or does she…?”
