(ABOVE) The stone doorway that was once part of the entrance to the Dowker’s Hospital in southern Highgate.
It was built in 1833 to accommodate six old spinsters of the town over the age of fifty five years.
When the hospital was demolished to make way for the entrance to the new Dowker’s Lane, the doorway was retained and installed on the first floor when Webster’s Yard was created.
