The head of the COVID vaccination programme for Lancashire and South Cumbria said that "it is still not too late to receive a vaccine."

In response to the latest figures for vaccine uptake in the South Lakeland district area, Jane Scattergood said:

"For 90 percent of eligible adults to have received at least one dose of the vaccine is something we are all immensely proud of, but we will never stop pushing.

"It is still not too late for anyone who is yet to receive a vaccine to come forward and I would urge people to go along to any of our vaccination centres.

"There will be no judgement from staff, we will just be pleased that you have come forward."

This comes a year after COVID-19 vaccinations became available to everyone.

NHS England published the vaccination uptake for Barrow and the South Lakeland District yesterday.

It comes as the Office for National Statistics warned that there were early signs of a possible rise in COVID-19 infections in England and Northern Ireland in the week to 2 June 2022.

An estimated one in seventy people had COVID-19 in that week based on their modelling data.
