North West Air Ambulance is hosting their annual cross bay walk to raise money for their charity.

It is hoping for 500 supporters to walk across the 7.5 mile Morecambe Bay on 10 July, which would make it their biggest event ever.

Last year, over 300 fundraisers took part in the Cross Bay Walk over two days raising almost £15,000.

The walkers will be accompanied by tour guide Michael Wilson, who is the Queen's Guide to the Sands: "The bay walk is such a unique event for charities - this is why it raises thousands year in, year out.

"The walk is a leisurely walk at a relaxed pace. My team of marshalls and I ensure everyone enjoys their walk from the moment we set off, to the very end of the walk."

Louise Lawless, head of community and events at the North West Air Ambulance charity said that it is the biggest fundraising event of their year:

"We receive no government or NHS funding, so every single person raising money by taking part and walking across the sands is helping our crew to treat some of the most critically ill patients across the region."
