The latest census data shows that the South Lakeland District Authority area has seen a slight rise in population.
On census day, 104,500 people were living in the area, which is a very slight rise from 103,658 in 2011.
South Lakeland has an increasingly aging population, with a 3.8 per cent increase in over-65s in the last ten years to 28 per cent.
A decade ago 8.9 per cent of the population were under-10 years old but this has decreased to 7.9 per cent.
Population density has stayed the same over the last decade, at 68 usual residents per square kilometre.
The balance of men and women in the area has changed - South Lakeland's population is now 48.9 per cent male and 51 per cent female, meaning there is now a slightly higher proportion of men in the area than 10 years ago.
In the North-West in general, population has increased by 5.2 percent.
