A BARN is to be given a new lease of life as holiday accommodation after planning permission for the conversion was granted.
The barn, part of a residential complex of buildings at Ball Hall, is located about a mile north of the hamlet of Broughton Mills, four kilometres from Broughton.
The Lake District National Park Authority has granted permission for: "Conversion of former barn to provide holiday letting accommodation including extensions.
"Associated works to create a walled terrace and provide wastewater drainage and managed treatment plant in an adjacent field."
The conversion will be 'sympathetic' and provide a three-bedroom property that will be used for holiday letting.
The planning statement said: "The natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park will be conserved.
"The holiday let unit will provide access for visitors to a more remote part of the National Parks and enable enjoyment of the southern and western parts of the Lake District.
"There will be economic benefits for the local community in this part of the Lake District as a result of visitors’ spend in local shops, public houses, and restaurants."
