THE GPs who run Central Lakes Medical Group have resigned their contract.

In a message from Dr Paul Davies, Dr Kaye Ward and Dr Paula Cook, the GPs said due to ‘a number of factors’ outside of their control they had resigned their contract to run the group’s services.

Central Lakes Medical Group incorporates Ambleside Health Centre and Hawkshead Medical Practice.

Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) will begin its search for a new GP provider for Central Lakes Medical Group, following the decision from its GP partners to give notice on their contract.

According to the statement, Dr Ward and Dr Cook will remain at the practice until the end of the year.

Both the Ambleside and Hawkshead surgeries will remain fully open and patients can continue to access them as normal.

Their statement read: “With much regret we must inform you that due to a number of factors outside the control of the partners, we have resigned our General Medical Services (GMS) contract, handing it back to Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB).

“This means that we will no longer be partners at the Central Lakes Medical Group and will be moving on in due course.  Dr Kaye Ward and Dr Paula Cook will remain at the practice until 31st December 2022.

“The ICB will now begin the process of procuring a replacement and will be the point of contact for information or to answer any questions about next steps, they will be contacting you directly very shortly.

“We would like to thank you for the support you have shown to colleagues and staff in the practice, particularly over the past couple of years during the pandemic.”
