A MOUNTAIN rescue team were able to put its new piece of rescue equipment to help a stricken walker on Saturday.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team received a call from a lady who had injured her ankle while descending Rest Dodd.

She and her companions had set off early from Hartsop for a walk around Brock Crags and surrounding peaks, but slipped on a grassy track and injured her ankle, after which she was unable to weight bear and carry on.

The team posted on social media:

"Ten team members responded and went up from Hayeswater.

"The team doctor stabilised the injury with a splint and she was then evacuated off the fell on a stretcher to the team Landrover at the Hayeswater outflow.

"We once again would like to thank all our supporters who have donated over the years and those who donated towards this amazing piece of off-road kit."
