WESTMORLAND and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron will join Kendal police on their night patrol tomorrow (Friday) to see first hand the challenges officers face.

Mr Farron has campaigned for greater funding for Cumbria Police Authority and says he wants to see for himself the issues facing those responsible for maintaining law and order in South Lakeland's largest town.

The MP said: "The police in Cumbria do a fantastic job, despite often not getting the recognition they deserve for having to spread their resources over an area as dispersed as ours.

"With that in mind, I was delighted when they were named one of the top three police authorities in the country last October and I am really looking forward to joining local officers on the streets and to witness them at work.

"I hope to learn more about the challenges facing our local police and also those challenges facing all involved in the pub, club and restaurant trade."
