A PROJECT to restore Grange Lido will see a £35,000 cash injection.

Save Grange Lido CBS will receive the cash from the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The funding will be used towards the vision of restoring the derelict 1930s open air pool on the promenade in Grange Over Sands.

The funding was awarded by South Lakeland District Council.

£20,000 will be used for a renewables feasibility study and £15,000 will be used to continue the pool design work, to incorporate the findings of the renewables study.

SGL plan to restore the facility using modern, sustainable construction techniques and heat the pool with reusable energy.

Janet Carter, chair of Save Grange Lido, said: "It’s wonderful news to have received this funding and it will take us another significant step towards the restoration of this wonderful pool. The grant underlines our partnership with SLDC and we look forward to working together further in our joint vision of reopening the Lido for the people of Grange."

The restoration of Grange Lido will be undertaken in two phases. Phase one, funded by South Lakeland District Council, will begin shortly. This will see the renovation of the Grade II listed site.

SGL are securing funding for Phase two, which is anticipated to commence once the first phase is complete and will restore the pool itself.
