FIFTEEN 'dippers' are taking the plunge this January by swimming outside every day of the month to raise money for homeless charity Crisis.
The 'January Daily Dip' is in its sixth year, and has raised around £128k so far for homeless and displaced people. It has gone from an original team of three to fifteen.
Everyone taking part is an experienced cold swimmer, and the group said that 'safety is a key consideration.'
The swimmers visit bodies of water across the Lake District and Yorkshire, including Windermere.
So far this year it has raised £7,310 of the £20,000 target on the Just Giving page for this year.
The group said in a statement: "Despite living in the world’s sixth biggest economy, people are still living with no place to call their home in this country. This is terrible and we want to do what we can to change it.
"Homelessness can be overwhelming. It’s uncomfortable to confront. Sometimes the more we see it, the more we want to look away.
"300,000 households across Great Britain could be forced into homelessness next year because of the rising cost of living and the economic and social impacts of the pandemic.
