A FIVE-DAY road closure is in place between Coniston and Ambleside for council teams to carry out 'urgent repair works'.
A 6.25 kilometre section of the A593 Coniston from its junction with Ellers Brow, extending in a south west direction, will be closed to all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) every day until Friday, March 24, according to a notice on the Cumbria County Council website.
The closures will be in place between 9 am and 3 pm.
The council notice says: "A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections A593 (Coniston), A5084 (Torver), A590 (Greenodd), A592 (Newby Bridge), B5360 (Storrs),Kendal Road (Bowness-on-Windermere), A492, A591 (Troutbeck Bridge) and A593.
