As the year comes to an end, people across Cumbria are getting ready to celebrate the start of 2023. Here is a round up of all the New Year’s Eve events that have been announced so far…
Swan Hotel and Spa at Newby Bridge
You’re invited to join the Swan as they bid a fond farewell to the year, and give a big warm welcome to 2024 with a night of partying.
With a glass of champagne as soon as you step through the door, be prepared for a fantastical evening of fizz, food and fabulous celebrations.
Guests will receive champagne and canapes on arrival followed by a delicious three course dining experience. Live music and a magician’s tricks will provide entertainment as the countdown to midnight begins.
The £100 ticket can be upgraded to an overnight getaway starting from £450 for two. This would include a stay in a room of your choice, two course breakfast in the morning, full use of their leisure facilities and a two hour thermal journey when you book a premium room.
The Farmers Arms in Ulverston
With free entry to their New Year’s Eve party, you are invited to get suited, booted and your sparkles on to see the start of 2024.
There will be dance favourites from the 80s and 90s by DJ Matt Garr as well as a live saxophone performance from Si Porter.
Cloud 9 and The Lounge in Barrow
Their family friendly New Year’s Eve party is open to all. Celebrations will kick off at 7pm with a disco followed by singer Becky Williams and an acoustic set by Route Stripped. Food will be served at 9pm.
The start of 2024 will be heralded by a countdown on the big screen and a great balloon drop, an adults only balcony area will give guests a great view of the stage.
Tickets are £10 with the early bird release while general admission is £15, and kids are free with an accompanying, paying adult.
Fell Foot and Windermere
To welcome 2024, the National Trust is starting the year with a free, bracing swim in England’s largest lake.
At 10am on Monday January 1 New Year’s Day dippers can take the plunge. Both beginners and seasoned pros are welcome, the course is about 40 metres around a jetty.
Wetsuit hire is available for £5 and there'll be a hot drink and shower waiting for you at the Active Base. Don't forget a towel, a warm hat, gloves and plenty of warm clothing for after your swim.
There will be a safety team on site.
