Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are taking part in Road Safety Week 2023, delivering new guidance each day for commuters.

Their campaign started on Monday, asking drivers to be mindful of emergency vehicles when parking and when said vehicles are approaching with their lights on.

Tuesday will focus on the importance of properly maintained tyres, particularly as we head towards winter.

In the same line of thought, Wednesday will prioritise windscreens and how crucial it is to give them time to fully defrost.

Whilst Thursday urges commuters to plan for longer journeys, Friday will build upon recent storm events to teach drivers about dealing with floods.

The weekend will see messages circulated about keeping your lights working in the winter months whilst driving, with Sunday outlining the service's future visions.

The organisation finished by saying that they aim to have zero road deaths in Cumbria in 2040 through these campaigns.
