A singer from the Lake District is getting ready to celebrate the release of her new album.

Olivia Fern, a rising star on the art and folk scene, has put together her latest collection to create 'Red Thread', which will be the culmination of her recent national tour.

The final trip will see her perform in Ambleside for a special candle lit concert at St Mary's Church on Saturday, June 1 at 7:30pm.

Olivia said: "I received Arts Council funding for a multi faceted project which at its heart was about supporting women and bringing women together to sing.

"As such during my tour I worked with as many female creatives as possible and I also ran free women's singing circles at many of the concert venues which in total over 150 women attended."

The Westmorland Gazette:

The singer, whose track 'The Moon's Song' currently has over six million streams on Spotify, has recently been performing across the country in places such as Hebden Bridge, Frome, Totnes and Lewes in Sussex.

These shows have been alongside many acclaimed female artists such as Carrie Tree and Sophia Efthimiou.

"It has been a very empowering experience for me as an artist to have the financial backing to create some really beautiful events and to collaborate with some amazing female musicians as well as to able to offer my women's singing circles for free," she said.

"And it feels really lovely to come full circle now and end my tour back here in the lakes where I live.”

Olivia will be joined on the night by Stroud based musician Asha McCarthy, who will be opening the concert before joining Olivia on stage as part of her set with cello and harmonies.

'The Women's Singing Circle', consisting of people Olivia taught in Kendal last Autumn, will also be making an appearance in the concert.
