PLANS have been lodged for a new ‘exciting’ playground in a Cumbrian town.
Westmorland and Furness Council has submitted a planning application to the council to build a playground on land south of the sports pavilion at Kirkby Stephen Cricket Club.
The proposed playground will consist of items appropriate for children from ages six months to 14 years and will be inclusive for children with additional needs.
According to the planning application, the equipment will be no higher than four metres and will be ‘vandal-proof’.
A visual submitted to the council shows the proposed playground will contain swings, climbing equipment, slides and benches amongst other equipment.
Westmorland and Furness Council previously carried out a consultation to develop plans for a playground on this site.
A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness Council previously said: “The aim of the project is to create an exciting and challenging play experience for children of all abilities up to the age of 14, making the site a destination playground where children and their families could spend the day not only enjoying the playground, but enjoying walks along the river and the incredible views from this location.”
The planning application is currently under consideration.
