South Lakes Police have arrested a man after chasing him through Kendal town centre.
Following a report of theft from a town centre shop, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team attended.
Brian Corless, age 41, has subsequently been charged to appear at North Cumbria Magistrates Court.
He will attend court on September 24 on three counts of theft and shoplifting, one occurring in Kendal and two incidents in Penrith.
